Regional Biomass Mapping Indonesia/Kalimantan
General Area Description
The ecosystem of Kalimantan includes different forest types: mangrove forests, peat swamp and freshwater swamp forests, the most extensive extent of heath forests in Southeast Asia, lowland dipterocarp forests, ironwood forests, forests on limestone and ultrabasic soils, hill dipterocarp forests and various montane formations (MacKinnon et al., 1996).
